In line with the ongoing digital transformation efforts that the Egyptian government is implementing across Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Emigration (formerly known as the Egyptian Ministry of State for Emigration & Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs) has launched its first-ever mobile application Kalem Masr that allows Egyptian nationals and expatriates alike to connect with the Ministry and benefit from its vast range of digital services.

The comprehensive app features a wide selection of informative content that aims to keep its users informed of the Ministry’s many initiatives and efforts on a local and international scale, while providing several contact options for Egyptians to get in touch with their questions and concerns from anywhere in the world.

The sleek application offers unique services that enrich the portal and empower Egyptians to get fast answers to common inquiries that are otherwise not necessarily clearly communicated within society. Users can choose to log in with their Facebook accounts or sign up by email, then they are instantly greeted with the many options that the app provides in a listing format that offers simplicity and ease of use.

The Services section is one of the most value-adding features of Kalem Masr, and it includes:

  • Access to Al-Azhar Electronic Fatwa Centre for any religion-oriented inquires.
  • Ask and Suggest Initiative that enables Egyptians to communicate their ideas.
  • Banned Medications to KSA indexes the medicinal products that are allowed entry into Saudi Arabia.
  • Belady Electronic Certificate brings the electronic version of the Central Bank of Egypt’s Belady certificate to any mobile phone.
  • Egyptian Expats Housing Guide and Services gathers all the relevant digital services and their information that expats could need in one place.
  • More features inside Services include an investment map for the industrial sector in Egypt, a complaints portal for Egyptians to submit any concerns they may have, and more.

Aside from Services, the Kalem Masr app offers an Embassy Locator which pinpoints the nearest embassies to users based on their locations around the world, a News section where Egyptians can stay updated with the Ministry’s presence in the local, regional and international media outlets, a FAQ section for quick answers to common questions, a Contact Us feature where Egyptians can connect with the Ministry through its phone numbers, website, hotline, email or fax, and much more.

Minister of Emigration Nabila Makram expressed her delight with the availability of the much-needed mobile app, especially for Egyptians abroad that had difficulty in finding information online, who now have an open communication bridge to Egypt and all that the Ministry offers.
